The Unexpected Journey Comes to Boardgames Fall 2013

Los Angeles, CA – February 10, 2013 – Spin Master Games and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have teamed up to create Stratego – The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Game based on The Hobbit Trilogy, including the blockbuster The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, as well as the highly anticipated second and third films, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM).

Created for kids aged eight and up, Stratego – The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug combines Classic Stratego battlefield strategy with the fantastical world of The Hobbit Trilogy for two exciting ways to play. On one side of the game board, enjoy original Stratego play with detailed artwork from The Hobbit Trilogy. On the other side, take on the role of Bilbo Baggins and The Company of Dwarves to find a way to escape from Mirkwood. Or, play as Spiders, Wargs and Orcs to keep Bilbo and the Dwarves trapped forever! With exclusive sculpted mover pieces, Stratego – The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will appeal to fans of all ages and strategy game enthusiasts.

About The Hobbit Trilogy:

Under the direction of Peter Jackson, the Academy Award-winning director of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug features a screenplay by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson. Jackson is also producing the film, together with Carolynne Cunningham, Zane Weiner and Fran Walsh. The executive producers are Alan Horn, Toby Emmerich, Ken Kamins and Carolyn Blackwood, with Boyens and Eileen Moran serving as co-producers.
