George Lucas Wins First Emmy® for Star Wars: The Clone Wars at the 40th Anniversary Daytime Emmy® Awards Sponsored by Red Touch Media

LOS ANGELES, June 16, 2013 -- Red Touch Media announced George Lucas' first-ever Emmy® award win for Star Wars: The Clone Wars in the Outstanding Special Class-Animation category. The legendary creator of the Star Wars series was presented the award this evening by Carrie Fisher, star of his iconic films. Red Touch Media previously announced its unique partnership with The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) as the premiere digital content management provider for this year's Daytime Emmy® Awards and sponsor of the "Red Touch Red Carpet."

The memorable fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars garnered an impressive seven nominations this year by the Academy. In addition to winning Outstanding Special Class-Animation, the series' David Tennant won Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his performance as Huyang. Jim Cummings as Hondo Ohnaka and Sam Witwer as Darth Maul were also nominated for their performances this year. Also nominated for The Clone Wars for Outstanding Directing in an Animated Program were Dave Filoni (supervising director), Kyle Dunlevy, Brian Kalin O'Connell, Steward Lee, and Bosco Ng (episodic directors).

Excellence in sound for The Clone Wars was also recognized with Kevin Kiner receiving a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition. David Acord from Skywalker Sound (re-recording mixer) and Cameron Davis from LA Studios, Inc. (dialogue recordist) are named in the nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing.

Hosted by Red Touch Media, this evening's award show was the first ever to incorporate a Social Media DJ™ into the live show experience, embracing the future of television communications.
