June 2014 - The 5th Annual Quad Cities Planet Comic & Arts Convention is only one month away! Sunday July 13th, 2014 at the Holiday Inn in The District of Rock Island, IL is the new venue for this years premiere Comic Convention!

This is going to be our biggest and best event yet! Artists, Writers, and Vendors will be displaying their creations and merchandise for attendees, fans, collectors, and hobbyists to peruse, browse, acquire, and mingle with fellow enthusiasts. There are 20 guest Creators scheduled for this years Convention. Phil Hester, Jenny Frison, John Bivens are just to name a few. There will be over 40 tables of Dealers and Vendors presenting New & Old Comics, Original Art, Action Figures, Posters, and so much more!

New to the Convention this year will be 3 presentations offered for interested participants.

* The first will be presented by Jarrett Crippen (2nd Season winner of Stan Lee's Who Wants to be a Super Hero?). Geared towards children, this presentation titled "How to be a Super Hero in Your Own Community," encourages kids to know when to do the right thing and help those in need within their own neighborhood, school, and community.

** The second presentation will be by Dominic Velando, a Davenport-based artist who has been teaching young people how to make Comics for 10 years. This interactive workshop, entitled "Drag and Drop Comics" is an easy way for kids of all ages to drop in, start creating, and take home their Comic.

*** The third presentation of the day will be for all ages, once again hosted by Jarrett - "Cons and Competitive Cosplay"! He will give tips and advice on what to do and what not to do when preparing your costume and yourself for a cosplay contest.

In the afternoon, at 2:30p.m. will be the Children's Costume Contest, followed by the Adult Costume Contest at 4p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the adults. Children will be awarded trophies and all children entering will receive Skottie Young lithographs as a participant "Thank You" gift.

Entry is $3 for persons 13 and up. 12 and under are free with paid adult admission. This is becoming the most anticipated Comic Convention in the area. The price of admission is well worth what is being offered to attendees! A raffle and silent auction will also be held to raise funds for next years QC Planet Con, with hopes to make it an even bigger and better Convention for the Community to participate and enjoy!
