I've been looking over pictures of the newly-released Takara Masterpiece Soundwave, and I gotta say, he looks very spiffy. Please, Hasbro, when you get around to releasing him, give us all the goodies the Takara release has, with three important additions: Ravage, Rumble, and Frenzy. You did such a nice job with Hot Rod/Rodimus and Prime, so don't let us down with this one!

The only thing is... with Rodimus, they basically took out the trailer, presumably to keep costs down. Not sure if they really want to up the price of the base package of Soundwave, though I'm hopeful they'll at least have a separate release with a bundle of cassettes.

I admit that this is the most likely scenario... I'm just hoping for it anyway. I'd hate to have to hunt down more than ONE TF exclusive in a year. And while they did take Rodimus' trailer, I thought the added Targetmaster was a nice consolation prize. Plus I've always thought the trailer for RP was just plain goofy. Very 80's, but almost too goofy for even that time.

While the Rodimus Prime mode was kinda overengineered, it was still a distinct character... but we'll see.

With Masterpiece Prowl and Smokescreen now announced, Hasbro better start pumping these out to catch up...

Even if Soundwave has all four tapes he shouldn't cost more than Optimus. Probably could go for $100 and sell just as well.

I dunno...

Masterpiece Optimus w/ Trailer was 22,000 Yen
Masterpiece Soundwave is 16800
each tape set is 4200

Maybe one tape set and you are a little under Optimus's price, but while Soundwave is cool, he's a bit less iconic. Of course, TRU has a lot of leeway, seeing as how they raised the price of Optimus 20 to 30 bucks once they saw he was selling out.

Just to note, Rodimus with trailer was 16800 and Grimlock and the newer Starscream mold were 13000, plus the dollar is a bit stronger now if that makes any difference.

Also of note is that they chose to sell the "disk" packs of the Fall of Cybertron stuff separately from soundblaster/soundwave, and that stuff is almost useless without the bigger characters.

Here's a question for those who pre-ordered the Takara version. If Hasbro release it's version, will you buy it too?

I received a shipping notice from BBTS about two hours ago. Without even having him in hand, I can just about guarantee I'll pick up a Hasbro version if released. I did the same with Grimlock but waited for TRU releases of Optimus and Rodimus.

I received my BBTS notice today too. I'm so excited I decided to ship my loot so he arrives in time to open him on my day of birth.

I've never bought both the Takara & Hasbro versions of an MP before, but I love Soundwave so much I may bite if Hasbro's price is right.

I haven't bought the Takara Tomy version yet (too much coming out, just spent way too much on Takara's FOC Combaticons and animated Encore Constructicons), but I plan on getting in on the second run. Seeing as how I've never seen a TRU Masterpiece in person I'm going to have to say no to that.

So rumor has it that a Hasbro rep in Australia let it out that Soundwave is coming in July as a TRU exclusive. Also seems there's a MP Acid Storm (Seeker jet) coming as well.

Recieved Soundwave yesterday & he is, indeed, awesome. I will have time to take pics this weekend if anyone would like.

Rejoice, ye brothers and sisters in plastic, for the toy gods have indeed heard my plea: Soundwave is coming with FIVE cassettes!

The yellow visor is enough for me to re-buy Soundwave. I wonder if Rumble & Frenzy will have their guns included.

I didn't even realize they changed it from red to yellow. Doesn't really matter, to me, as long as I can get him for less than the import version and all the minion-y goodness they're offering.

It's a good deal.
Soundwave with yellow eyes and all 5 cassettes.
Missing : Megatron gun, energon cubes, display screen, possibly sensor hand. Still don't know for sure but it seems like a good trade off if that ends up being the case.

I got the Takara version but may have waited if I knew this US version was coming.
Naw. I wanted him ASAP.

The cassettes almost, almost outshine Soundwave. The Takara releases have super tight joints for a TF & the engineering is brilliant. I've played more w/Laserbeak & Ravage than I have w/Soundwave.

Does anybody know if the Takara versions going to be made available again? I know it wasn't released all that long ago, but I can't find it online anywhere for a reasonable price. :/
