Just got the rest of the 66 Batman series figures except for Julie Catwoman who arrives later this year & my child hood dream toy line rocks. The whole batch are great & look better than I could have dreamed.
The figures look so right down to Adam's Bat cowl,The question marks going down Riddlers legs to his slightly different green slipper like shoes(just like Franks exact outfit from then) & even the hint of Ceasars Jokers covered up make up mustache. The Penguin & Robin really hit it too but the best is Surfs Up Batman with his sculpted Bat baggies. You cant beat coolness like that.
These are the toys I have waited for all my life & when Julie Catwoman & The Batmobile arrives,My holy grail or dream toy line will be complete.
I just hope Batgirl & King Tut will be after that if theres more to come.
Dreams do come true!

They certainly look cool. I got the Batman & Robin two pack. From what I heard, there is nothing planned after these wave of figures. Sad

I hope somehow they will do a few more or at least a Surfs Up Joker with his baggies on with surf board.
My batmobile arrives real soon from TRU.com.
I still wouldnt be suprised for a Batgirl or another unique 2 pack to get made.

I would love for them to continue the line. I was hoping they would do villains like Book Worm & Egghead. A Green Hornet & Kato two pack would have been wonderful.

My only real disappointment is the lack of props as accessories. How cool would it have been to have Bat-Accessories, A "Bomb" for Batman to try to get rid of, a red hotline, a Shakespeare bust, Bat-Shark Repellant...

But All I ask is for a Batgirl to finish the Bat-family. Then after that, the icing would be: A Batcycle with sidecar, Alfred, Alfred in Batsuit, and a Batman and Robin 2-pack with some elaborate super-villain trap diorama.

That would be awesome if they did that.

Cas, your customs are always so impressive & that concept of a 66 Harley is perfect down to the hat & gogo boots.

Mattel has announced that they are not continuing with the Batman '66 line of action figures beyond series 1."

Wow, are you sure? These seem to be flying off the shelves around here, and Yvonne Craig just signed a deal with WB to have her likeness used (Batgirl). Seems like things would be going in the direction of line expansion given this, not Mattel ending the line.

In '66 I was a 10yo comic book fan. True, I was far more of a Kirby/Marvel fan, but I had a few guilty DC pleasures, like the Legion & Superboy. Batman was not a book or character I particularly enjoyed (my dad took me to see both the serialized versions in the theatre), but I was nonetheless excited for Batman's TV debut, and even coaxed my parents into letting me watch Batman on our B&W set during dinner (a practice not usually observed at our house).

Camp is camp, and all that, but I actually cried when, only a few minutes into the pilot, I realized that Batman's TV outing was a COMEDY and Batman had been re-imagined & transmogrified into a twittering boob.

The Wild Wild West, the Green Hornet...now THESE represented my idea of camp. I mean...people were actually killed in these TV shows.

Sadly, the WWW movie franchise was predictably changed into a pointless, race-baiting mess, complete with stereotypical, irredeemably stupid, evil Southerners. (I almost wish Tom Cruise had been cast as Jim West, although he ruined the Mission: Impossible movie franchise single-handedly.)

However, I did pick up the Batman 66 two-pack, but have little interest in the matching Batmobile...too bad.

I second the notion of decent 1/12 Green Hornet & Kato TV figures...AND a 1/12 Black Beauty!! In fact, I'd settle for a 1/18 diecast version.

As a child in the 70's, I'd come home from school and do my homework with listening to or watching Speed Racer, Star Trek, Batman, Starblazers...and so on and so on. When I first heard these toys were coming out, I cringed because Mattel is the devil. You are either faced with poor distribution, poor quality control, or an incomplete series/ team/ line; you cannot deny it. So as to no surprise to me the first time I see these is at TRU, they are $20 a pop, under sized and with terribly sloppy paint jobs. The show really was a fond memory for me from my childhood, but the product was just weak attempt at my heartstrings from Mattel. I am happy for those enjoying this toy line, but after reading Crawford's review on the Batmobile, it sealed the deal for me on this toy line.

I have no particular love for the campy show, or Adam West and Burt Ward-- however-- on an impulse I grabbed the Batmobile and Batman and Robin from the TRU website. Once I opened the giant box to be greeted by the giant box the Batmobile came in, the only thing I could say was "Holy $%^&!" Because it really is THAT huge. The size alone is impressive, and almost makes up for the "Barbie Dream Car" feel that it has. The figures are well done, too, and other that some green showing through on Robin's thigh swivel, the paint apps are pretty spot on.

I have a feeling the stepkid will probably enjoy it, play-wise, more than me, but I like it a lot.

Not true, apparently. Julius reported on AFI a week or so ago that, while they're not announcing a Batgirl for the line as yet, Mattel said '66 Batman will continue next year. As proof, they showed Surf's Up Joker at NYCC, which is literally better than nothing.

I really hope they realize they've got quite a line on their hands if they put the effort in.

I feel for Warhead's complaints about price and paint apps, but maybe I've been so underwhelmed by the last few DCUC waves and club figures that I was just so pleased that Mattel did put some effort into these and made a bunch of unique sculpts that really nail these characters. It's so rare to see unique sculpts from them, and getting a great barrel-chested, chicken-legged Adam West Batman and not some new head slapped on a DCUC buck, that just makes me happy. Him and the Riddler are really sweet and a great example of what Mattel can do if they put a little effort in. Luckily mine came out with decent paint apps too.

They should TRY to do two-packs of henchmen for Batman and Robin to fight. How many would love to have two henchmen with the unique outfits from:
Joker
Catwoman
Penguin
King Tut

If you wanted to, you could kind'a army build, too. How much fun would THAT be? Smile
