I doubt that we will see this line get beyond just the four turtles. (Though if they used it to produce a mix of older characters that either haven't seen figures in years or never got one to begin with, that would be amazing.)

I am surprised to see new toon versions for the classics line since playmates already had a line of classics that they showed off a few years ago that were based on the original comic appearances. Perhaps they figured that they were not going to be able to compete with the NECA figures and scrapped them.

I quite like these, and they should be a boon for fans of the 'toon, but, for me, they pale in comparison to the designs for the new series figures. If it weren't for those, I'd be a lot more excited for these. As it is, I think I'm going to go back and look at the other pics some more.

Love

I worry about those articulated fingers. I forsee them being unable to securely hold weapons.

I'd worry about that, too, but, if I were you, I'd worry more about these being 10" tall, for some reason.

Ah, that's a relief, then.

Did the guy say anything about stealing the new series prototypes and selling them to me?

These WILL be mine. I have not been excited about a TMNT figure since NECA released the Turtles. I do wish the Turtles had swappable hands instead of articulated fingers, but that is my sole gripe. They just look like they jumped off the screen. Nice work Playmates. You're not a complete failure in the 21st century.

Looks like the weapons peg into the hands (ala Power Rangers), so finger articulation could be a moot point.

As I said in another thread I really hate the finger articulation, but if the weapons peg into the hands it might not be AS bad as I fear. Still would rather normal hands that hold the weapons tight.

What excites me though is that they said if these do well it opens up the possibilities of branching off into various other Turtleverse's, including the movies. I've been wishing for new/better figures from the original films for a long time now, so I would be beside myself with glee if this actually happened. Though I'd also REALLY want Shredder, Tatsu, Foot Ninjas, Casey Jones, April, Splinter, Tokka, and Rahzar. Yeah I know that's not likely to happen, but a guy can dream.

I...would probably buy movie turtles done in that style. Definitely would like to see them at least try to tackle the Mirage-verse. Those NECA turtles are still the best TMNT figures of all time....I'd love a Splinter and Shredder to got with them.

I totally agree - but these are easily my second-favorites (barely beating out the vintage figures). I'll be picking up all of the 6" TMNT figures made in this style. =)

Edit: And I hope we get variants with smiling heads. I'd buy those, too. :b
