Hi Everyone!

My name is Hauke. I posted sometimes on the old buzz mostly about some custom figures I did. I switched to working with 3D a couple of years ago but still produce some resin figures in China based on my design from time to time. Currently I have developed a new range of characters called Mechawhales. This is basically about whales in giant exosuits who protect mankind against evil aliens. I have just finished my first animation with those characters that you can check out here:

http://www.mechawhales.com/

Here are some screenshots from the animation:

I also hope to produce a pvc figure later this year based on this prototype:

I would really like to hear what you guys think about the project.

Thanks for checking this out, Hauke

Interesting. I honestly would not have thought to put whales in exosuits. Laughing out loud

That prototype looks great, though. Good luck with the project!

Thank you! What I really like about the prototype is that the mechanical parts were directly 3D printed from my original animation model. This way its proportions are exactly like I imagined them to be.

Thank you! I am glad you like it.

Here is a picture of the painted figure. The final figure is about 11cm (4.3 inch) high. While that may see small at first it is still quite impressiv since the figure is so bulky.

I really like it. I'm amazed that I'm far more interested in toys that are put out by the little guys in the industry than I am in Hasbro and Mattel.

Thank you! I guess since the little guys cater to smaller markets they come up with stuff that would make no economic sense to the big ones.

Fantastic design work on both the creature and mecha elements, and I love the look of your painted prototype. Best reason I've heard so far for why fighting robots should be gigantic -- because the pilots are themselves gigantic! Please keep us posted on developments.

Thanks, MyClone

I mean this in the nicest way, one of the absolute craziest, absurdest ideas ever. Laughing out loud I love it.

Definitely keep us updated on the progress, it might end up being a bit too rich for my tastes but I hope to pick up the PVC.

Thanks Greg and JRSly!

I am definitely a child of the 80s when it comes to toys. I loved all the crazy innovative characters that came out back then. I miss that in today's toylines. I will keep you updated on the progress.

DO COLOR VARIATIONS!!! I love the look of the unpainted, white-ish whale in your prototype! Maybe an albino whale in a purple and black mech suit?

Thanks!

There is a white whale character at the beginning of the animation:

If the original whale turns out to be success I would like to produce the white one as a variation at some point in the future.

Hey, looks like Io9 did a story on your animation! Cool! http://io9.com/5896311/a-sperm-whale-in-a-mecha-suit-needs-no-introduction

Those are awesome! I'd be on board.

But you do realize you have to create a badass Boba Fett-like character who's actually a whale shark, right?

I vote that any white whale version have a harpoon hand!

Cool idea. I just started designing other whale variants like those two:

Whale sharks are gentle plankton eaters. They're even more docile than the baleen whales.

Oh I'm aware of that. So are the whales (well, many of them). My point was that, as a fish, he would be an obvious candidate for a "mysterious stranger"-type character.

The new designs you put up are even more awesomeness! I second the idea that the white whale should have a harpoon weapon/hand. He could be the commander, The Great White Whale! lol. But seriously, I really dig these things a lot more than I thought I would when I read the thread title. Keep bringing more info and pics!

And Boba Fett was once an innocent child, just living on a clone factory. It's the situation that turns the Whale Shark, I mean Boba Fett, into a mysterious badass.

I always enjoy seeing a particular sentence uttered for the first time in the history of the English language, lol. Wink

Hahahaha. And this will be my mark on history.
