many times with dc direct, marvel select and marvel universe. and i think the bulk of reviews have been from noisy. so thanks for saving me some dough and irritation, noisy!

Quite often. Reviews are great for pointing out QC issues or little inaccuracies that would drive me crazy.

I wish I had read or viewed some reviews before picking up the Square Enix Master Chief. It is a good figure, but it is their interpretation of the character so there are all sorts of little inaccuracies all over the figure. I did notice this before I made the purchase and it even says it on the box. What I didn't realize is just how much was changed.

Never! I remember all of the bad reviews for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull etc. I love that movie now! I never listen to reviews especially by fanboys who IMO have it wrong most of the time anyways.

Happens to me for Transformers. Not that I wouldn't buy the figure regardless, but it helps me pick between Hasbro and Takara.

I'd say it's more often a case where a review will signal to me that something is not worth the asking retail. Then I'll just wait for clearance or a bst somewhere to get it cheaper 2nd hand.

Sideshow Star Wars. I was pretty addicted to them but because we were in a move I kept most of them in boxes as we were getting ready to actually move. (It was about a 6 month process from start to finish.) After reading reviews of them I decided they weren't worth my money. I have since only bought the Vader and the Palpatine.

Today, I use onesixthwarrior, youtube, itsalltrue, wrestlingfigs and various indy reviews as a barometer.

With Star Wars figures, I almost refuse to buy them unless I check out the articulation on Rebelscum first. Hasbro should be flogged for their reuse of older crappier sculpts on characters when they have already made better versions. So many times I've checked out figures there and discovered they've reverted to an inferior sculpt and I wait to hope a better version is released.

Well, MWC's review of the Round2Corp Captain Action figure and Marvel costumes had me scrambling to cancel my pre-order on those.

I think I take more stock in the pictures than the text of reviews, but they have influenced me to both purchase and not purchase toys.

I was actually recently considering buying Sideshow's 2007 Asajj Ventress off E-bay. After reading some reviews about how cheesy the cloth she is wearing I decided not to pay that amount. Now if I had thought of buying her when she first came available (around $59) I may have sung a different tune. But anything over $80 is not a consideration.

There was a write-up on Fwoosh about the Figma Caanan that pointed out her limited range of movement in the articulation. Didn't buy it.
But mostly I'm looking for comparison pics to gauge scale. Seeing the Revoltech Iron Man next to some MLs convinced me it was too small, for instance. Same with the ROML Commander Rogers, who is way too big.

The recent review of the Capt Action Cap and Spidey sets convinced me not to buy those.

still may pick up the figure, now that i've seen it in person (TRU), but i'll be passing on the costume sets.

I would have to say the Micronauts from Palisades Toys, I was told that the plastic was not able to support the joints, and that they broke really quickly...sad to say i wanted these figures and hoped they didnt break when i got them, sad to say there were some that broke. Its too bad, i could not afford the originals but was hoping the reproductions would be a great center piece...
