I loved it. =)
To my (slight) surprise, my favorite parts involved the Hulk!
I really thought this was going to be a crappy, rushed movie looking to squeeze everyone into a rushed story.
Now, I am enjoying a nice side salad with those words I'm now eating as it was an amazing movie.
I wasn't a fan of the movie Captain America..but loved him here..everything about him was perfect from dialogue to the attitude. Loki was the perfect villain..even on par with heath's Joker IMHO. I have never been much of a Hulk/Thor fan, but loved them here.
Civil War made me despise Tony Stark, while the chemistry and one liners he has with everyone made me forget about all that.
I liked everything about this movie..and the bit after the credits was icing on the cake.
Ditto to everything said so far. It was an amazing ensemble movie that kept the focus on all of the characters at the same time perfectly. I always thought it was funny when people said of Loki that he didn't seem like that big of a threat in Thor, when that was the entire point of him. Here, since he had to keep up no pretenses, he was fantastic.
Very, very sad to loose Coulsen though. I absolutely loved his character.
That post credit sequence makes me nervous just because that is a BIG promise to have to pay up on. But as long as they take the time and obvious care they took on this movie, however they decide to do it should be incredible.
I thought the 2nd post credit scene was better than the first - and totally unexpected. I'm guessing they were eating where Tony suggested in his post-fall daze?
I LOVED it!!
Here's my review of it at my site. http://wp.me/P2aIde-4V
My only problem with this movie is that it sets my expectations too high for other super hero films now.
The choreography and flow of the Chitauri battle was insanely amazing. It was a veritable symphony and every character shined equally. And every time they weren't in the midst of battle, I was laughing harder than just about any recent comedy film I've seen.
I can't wait to see it again. Perhaps next time without so many potty breaks for my son, who was left jaw hanging at the end just like me. I missed Tony being recruited and whatever happened right after Black Widow freed her foot from the pipes in the helicarrier.
Not having read anything Ultimates, do the Chitauri have ties to the big guy or was that just for this film?
Has the Hulk ever been written to be as fun and interesting as he is in this and the Avengers cartoon?
And yes, there was a sign about it being a shawarma restaurant as Tony was asking for earlier.

Eventually in Ultimate Fantastic Four, Skrulls more akin to what we're used to seeing are introduced and we're told the Chitauri are a sort of cousin race. Or something like that, it's be a LONG time since I've read it.
And neither the Skrulls or the Chitauri have ties to the big bad in the Ultimate titles.
Thank you for perfectly stated what I've been trying to put into words. It set a DAMNED high bar. Whedon balanced everything so beautifully, even his standard humor which was sprinkled in just right.
Here's a look at Marvel Studios' post-Avengers plans.

Please talk me off the ledge of deciding to get these Hot Toys Avengers...!
