1. "We will finally see the JJ-verse version of Klingons on the big screen." Apparently the Klingons play a major role (or a least a role that's large enough that they can't be cut this time).
2. Leonard Nimoy returns as Spock Prime and "he has already completed his work for the film."
3. Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Khan, but "sources indicate that the film is not a rehash of 'Space Seed,' the original Star Trek episode where Kirk and crew first encounter the genetic superman from the past."

I love 1 and 3 - but not so much 2. This time 'round I was very much expecting a film that stands on its own, without any ties to the original continuity, so I hope Spock Prime's involvement is minimal.

Thoughts? =)

LOVE 3. He is such an awesome actor. I have a very love/hate relationship with the first movie but still look forward to this mostly because of BC.

Same here.

I'll bet that initially in the film, Cumberbatch will appear to be playing one of Khan's henchmen. Just like Liam Neeson's "Ducard" initially pretended to be a lackey to Ken Watanabe's "Ra's Al Ghul" in Batman Begins.

I'm not basing that on anything other than a hunch, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. ;b

Whatever it is, I have a sneaking suspicion it won't make any sense Smile

One of the very first things I thought of after the first one was that Spock Prime (what a stupid designation btw) would likely outline all of the possible problems the Federation could face and outline ways to avoid them. Chief of which would be dealing with Khan and his followers, making sure they remain in suspended animation. The fact that Khan is being used, or rather implied that he's being used, suggests that Spock Prime is a complete idiot.

Sprime won't interfere in the new continuity any more than he already has, because the timeline's already been so radically altered that he can't accurately predict what any interference on his part will do - and besides, he understands that the new Kirk and co. need to experience what Sprime and his fellow crewmembers went through back in the original timeline without any outside assistance, or they might not earn the know-how to grow into the heroes that Sprime and co. became.

...That's hella weak, yeah, but it's all I got. I frackin' hate time travel stories and I really, really hope that Sprime's only used in the second film as little more than a narrator. :b

I'm betting that's a red herring, though.
