The first movie gave us some great toys, yet I disliked the movie so much that it kept me from enjoying them.

With Retaliation, I am very pleased with some of the spoiler info I've read (but will not discuss) despite the fact it seems to be centered around The Rock.

I told myself that I would not be buying these toys..until I saw the updated Cobra Commander. It doesn't make all the pain go away, but it does make me happy enough that I plunked down $40 to get Amazon 4 pack for the black version.

At this point, I'm sure I'll be buying additional figures and vehicles.

Anyone else?

There are a few I will definitely get as soon as I see them. Others I will wait for a sale and still others I'll completely pass on.

I don't collect Joes any more, but a tiny Bruce Willis might be fun to have.

Hasbro's seeming desire not to have any tattoos on the Rock figures mostly erases my interest in him.

I would if they were a decent price here in Mexico but if it goes the way of the first movie forget it. Not paying $18 for one figure.

I've picked up a couple figs so far, and I have to say the quality is pretty good. Not Target's $11+ good, but Wal-Mart's $9 good. The reduced articulation on the CC and Zartan doesn't bother me. If I wasn't spoiled by the greatness of the PoC/30th figures I would probably think these were 10 out of 10s. The Snake Eyes from Wave 1 is all kinds of coolness, with added articulation, like rocker-ankles.

The one big sticking point for me is the weapons: they are mostly brightly colored like the late Battle Corps figures from '93-'94. And the huge missile launchers meant to draw in kids are more worthless than the RoC ones. They may not even go in the bin, they may just go in the trash.

edit: I should point out that I got mine from eBay, not in a retail chain. Don't want to start people running around like crazy(unless you have a Meijers, then go nuts).

I'm down for Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander, & a Cobra Trooper for sure. I may even be suckered into buying the blue H.I.S.S. tank because I'm a big fan of the design. (Blue also happens to be my favorite color)

I really wanted a JOE Trooper, but the blue poncho irritates me. I wish it was tan or olive green. Like Scotty, the brightly colored weapons irritates me to no end. It's not like I don't have enough weapons to replace them, it's the fact that I will be paying so much for accesories that are worthless to me.

I really wanted both Amazon sets too, but $40 for 4 repaints is ridiculous. I'll just save my money for all the dollar store Cobra Troopers I can find.

I'll be buying a Bruce Willis/Joe Colton/John McClaine figure and the Joe trooper to customize into Mathias Nilsson from "Mercenaries". Possibly a red ninja. Otherwise this entire line is a giant "pass" for me.

Most if not all of wave one is a PASS for me except maybe the troopers and Zartan. Ill probably get the amazon 4 pack for a more movie acurate Cobra Commander. Will probably get wave 2 Roadblock and Flint (hopefully they retooled the head to look less cartoon and more like the actor otherwise Ill get the one with the bike and do a head swap) wave 3 will be insane to find with everyone wanting the Bruce Willis figure AND Lady Jaye. I do wish these looked more like their movie counterparts but I read somewhere that Hasbro didnt have much to work with at the time so they pretty much made up the first wave hence why the later waves have a more movie feel to them.

UPDATE: I caved an bought the Amazon Preview Pack as I am a huge Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes fan.

They all look great..the new look CC has is really cool and a nice modern upgrade to the classic battle helmet. The detailing in the helmet is pretty fantastic. My only real gripe is the missing ankle articulation and/or cut joint above the boot line, but I lived without it on the Cap line and those are some of my fav 3 3/4" figures to date.

For you Snake Eyes fans, remember the cover of the GI Joe:Reloaded comic? This figure is an homage to that artwork...and it looks awesome.

Storm Shadow looks cool, much cooler than the RoC version. While I like the figure, the greatest SS will always be the V1 style. SS only has 3 different looks in my universe, which is Cobra Villain style #1, Urban Camo #2 and Ninja Force #3.

Oh yeah, there is also a 4th figure of some wrestler guy that I can't seem to remember, nor care about.

(NOTE: Using the Brainwave Scanner, I have programmed myself to erase any knowledge of "The Rock" having any involvement in the GI Joe franchise)

I found Retaliation toys earlier this week @ Walmart. I pulled the trigger & bought Black Cobra Commander, Cobra Trooper, Red Ninja, Storm Shadow, & Snake Eyes.

This morning I picked up the H.I.S.S. tank, & a 2nd Cobra Trooper & Red Ninja @ Target. Everything thing else is a big pass.

Huh, didn't know about the Black CC. The blue one looks redonkulous. I may pick up the black if I see him.

Looks like Cobra Commander is being handled like the Marvel Universe variants. I saw CC in the blue outfit at 2 different TRUs, and 1 each of the blue outfit and black outfit at Target. I checked the cardback to see if they were different figures, but they're the same one.

By the way, for those collecting these, Target seems to have the multi-figure sets (Dojo and Showdown) and the Alpha & Bravo vehicles.

I did and I regretted it almost immediately. Picked up Roadblock who is a nice looking figure despite knowing I'd have to go to the armory for him. But then to my disappointment when I tried to remove that stupid handle and it's molded to his hand. That's what I get for buying Hasbro these days without reading the reviews. I wish I could return him now and wait for a later version next year.

Just sayin.

Zero interest in the movie or the figures, but saw them today and, yowzah, that is, without doubt, one of the worst packaging color schemes in the history of the medium. It screams, "This will be red tagged in a KB bin in 1998!"

Awful.

And to make matters worse, Roadblocksntwo different torso sections don't seem to be attached right giving him a lean to the left. Anyone else find this problem. Is there a fix?

What's shocking is that, here in Central Illinois, only TWO stores have put the line out so far and those are the two TRU stores. (40 miles apart.) Walmart and Target have yet to stock a single item and Target doesn't show ANY of the SKU's in their system as "in stock".

Sentinel, return that Roadblock & pick up a SE. He's a pretty great figure minus his blue gun.

I found another black Cobra Commander & a TAN cloak JOE Trooper. The other JOE Trooper I found has a blue cloak.

I'm so done with buying Snake Eyes. I know it's Joe blasphemy but I'm not all that fond of him anyway. I'll probably return Roadblock and wait for a better version. Or maybe get a black suit CC if I find him. When does the Joe Colton figure hit now I wonder?

I didn't know the black Cobra Commander was available single carded. Nice, but I haven't seen either version of CC so far.

I think we are all a little burned out on SE & SS, but the 3 ninjas are really the nicest figures in wave 1. I've yet to open CC, Cobra Trooper, or the JOE Trooper, but I know they are all lacking ankle articulation.

I really hope a nice Roadblock is released. The reduced articulation & lack of tattoos really killed my interest in the figure. Joe Colton is in wave 3, but waves 2 & 3 are pushed back until next year so you'll be waiting a while for him.

Actually the Joe Trooper has the best articulation of them all. His ankle articulation is hidden, but he does have the cool new rocker joint as well. He comes with: 7 guns, 2 knives, a helmeted head, a cloak, a gas mask and an unmasked head, and can hold/store all of it and still have a free hand (well, except for the extra head). Best figure out of the group. Just wish I could find a tan cloak version. All I've seen are blue.

I will, I have, and I will continue to, lol. Got 2 sets and a couple extra Red Ninjas and Joe Troopers because they mesh so well with 30th/PoC. Still have to pick up a couple of the vehicles when I have the $.

Really disappointed in myself for not jumping on the Wave 2 Roadblock when he was more cheaply available from some of the Chinese sellers. I picked up the Wave 2 Storm Shadow with the hood and I love it!

BKP,

Check Target. My Targets only got one case each. Each had the Black CC and Tan Trooper. I got both troopers. Big smile

Screwballs. In asia we have nothing BUT black single carded CCs. I wanted a blue one.

The seem to be showing up more heavily at Wal-Marts and K-Marts(YMMV), so if you know anyone near one of those I'd hit them up to take a look for you.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the inferior plastic used on these figures. I feel like the Joe trooper would melt in the sun.

The Joe Trooper is a real dilemma for me. On one hand I love the sculpting and the detail but you're 100% correct about the quality of the plastic. Hasbro cut corners and used a much higher rubber content this time around to combat rising costs and it really shows.
