Why hasn't someone copied Skylanders?

When I first saw Skylanders figures in store, I thought "Those are neat. NEVER going to catch on though, I'll pick some up on clearance."

I was way off obviously.

As I watched my nephew tear open figure after figure during Christmas, I wondered why no one has copied that format, game then all these accessory add ons. Pokemon seems like an obvious choice, but I'd be in trouble if they ever did Marvel or DC that way.

So I guess I shouldn't tell you about the HeroClix TabApp figures for the iPad? Smile

.

I'm sure someone will, now that it's been demonstrated that the concept works.

Yeah Disney's universe is being officially announced next month. And they own the licenses not only to Disney characters, but Pixar and Marvel as well.

Expect it to be ungodly huge.
