I said, "What the f**k is that," out loud upon seeing Vykron.

Seriously, who's that for? I can't imagine anyone but the most diehard inside baseball toy minutia junkie wanting that.

Means I save money this year as I couldn't fabricate interest in anything here.

8" Death? She looks great, and is an interesting (though unorthodox) figure choice, but why not make her 6" to fit in with DCUC? What the hell is the upside to making Death 8"?

EDIT: Never mind. According to ToyGuru:

"She is the start of a whole new look of 8" DC Stactions. We are trying it out with one figure Death to see what fans think. This is not intended to replace 6". 6" will continue strong on Mattycollector.com with Flash 1 on sale in two weeks! It is just a fun new way to collect the DC Universe. It won't be for every fan, but for those into this look/interpretation - jackpot!"

To me it just means one less company's product to have to be clamoring over and stepping on baby seals to try and get. Leaves me to Hasbro's mercies, which if the last two years are any indication, I may be in Providence throwing rocks the week after SDCC.

In this one case Mattel really can't win it seems - if the exclusives were too cool people would be bemoaning that they chose them as exclusives.

vykron makes a little more sense now that he comes as 3 different versions, robot, viking and space traveler.

Only way i'd be interested is if the Dark Night Movie Master figure turns out to be Alfred or Lucius, someone they really couldn't sell retailers on, but can pass on to fans at a retail price.

Not true, in the past characters with skimpy outfits and Lobo, who retailers have an irrational hatred for, were impossible to do as retail figures, were greeted with much praise. There was a lot of love for JLU Giganta. Granted, this was before they pulled pack-in shenanigans, but they made their bed with that.

I recall a lot of people being upset with JLU Giganta being chosen. People thought she should have been at retail in the 12" line.

Tiny Titans for me and whatever Monster High exclusive for my daughter!

I'm not really interested in the set, but I do think the MOTUC exclusive is a pretty neat idea.

I love me some Tiny Titans, but I just can't get excited about the set.

I'll probably just be sticking w/Minimates & whatever Hasbro ML & Mighty Muggs have to offer this year.

I'm quite turned off my it. Death was always one of those kid sister type characters. The statue makes her look like a slut in latex-fetish pants. I like my sexy women figures but Death isn't one of em.

VYKRON???

Is this real? I know MOTU can get a little over the top, but this looks ridiculous.

They should have put a big missile on his head and named him Viagron instead.

I'm the one He-Nerd that understands Vykron. I'm looking forward to the figure.

I also want Dana and Maybe the Monster High, if it's a unique character or something cool we haven't seen. All things considered, the list is fairly lame compared to last year and previous years.

I've always thought Death was supposed to be a cute, perky, pretty goth girl -- not over-the-top sexualized, but definitely an eye-catcher (if you like goth girls). Plenty of artists have drawn her with tank tops and tight pants over the years, and it almost makes sense for the Endless' fashion styles might change over time, from her earliest appearance in the late '80s to whatever goth girls are wearing now.

Nothing at all to promote the Club Infinite Earths line, which could use a shot in the arm considering sub sales were below what Mattel initially wanted. Shouldn't be surprised at Dana being the exclusive as a way to get her out; Busters is definitely on its last legs on Matty (Buster variants killed it). Vykron was a nice idea that was very badly executed. Only thing I've heard about that I'm even mildly excited for is the Mater set from Cars, and I'm still waiting to see what it actually looks like before getting too thrilled.

Weakest showing I've seen from Mattel in memory. Gonna be a lot of left-overs for the next Matty Madness sale, I fear...

Ghostbusters SHOULD have a lot left, especially since Mattel has the license for Real, as well, but, you're right, they mishandled character selection, badly.

Gotta make Gozer.

Gotta make Terror Dogs.

Don't care what NECA made.

Gotta do more than dollies for Real (I think Mattel horribly underestimated the demand for new RGB figures).

Gotta make Janine.

No one wanted courtroom figures.

Gotta do more than they did with Louis.

I was surprised The Rookie sold out. Maybe fans sense the line's mortality and are trying to show their interest. Probably too late, but we only had so much to work with.

Saying all that, having movie Ghostbusters figures after all these years IS cool, and I quite like them, so I'll always be thankful to Mattel for that.

I wanted Courtroom figures, it's one of my favorite scenes from the movies. I didn't want labcoat figures though.

And the Rookie didn't sell out legit. Mattel just pulled him after a week like they do with every other figure. You'll see him reappear again and again, possibly on sale, as they try to clear out their stock.

Heh, and I wanted the lab coat figures, largely because my interest is solely on the first movie.

After I posted, it occurred to me Matty may have just pulled The Rookie.

It'll be interesting to see what, of anything, Mattel says about the line at SDCC. Wasn't there supposed to be one more, non-Buster, reveal there? Or is that Dana?

Well, there's nothing for me because I'm strictly 6-inch.
Been a long time since there was no SDCC exclusive DCSH or DCUC, but I guess those days are over.

sigh
